In this blog post I'll address the most commonly asked questions and concerns from clients. Lets face it if you are not familiar with massage, it can be very intimidating. I assure you it isn't as daunting as you may think. without further delay lets get started.
"what should I expect during my first appointment?"
you should arrive a few minutes early to fill out your intake form. Ravensong's form is a very simple, basic one page form for medical information. After paperwork I will establish what your desired outcome is for the session. Is it relaxation? or are there problem areas we need to attend to?
"Do i need to be completely undressed?"
There are a couple of factors here, one I want you to be comfortable and if removing your underwear makes you uncomfortable then no you shouldn't. However; if you are suffering with low back pain and comfortable with glute work I would prefer you remove them.
"What do I do during a massage treatment?"
Make yourself comfortable, If I need to move your arms, legs, neck ect, I will do so. you do not need to assist me at all, in fact I prefer if you relax. Many clients want to remain quiet and just fade into a deep relaxation, while others like to chat the entire time. Both are acceptable.
"what if i didn't shave my legs or my feet smell?"
Guess what its fine, I am not judging you in any way. and you are not the first or last client I will see with some kind of body odor, or prickly legs. We are all human and grow hair, sweat and smell. chances are I probably didn't even notice until you said something.
"where did you attend school?"
I went to Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School, located in Urbandale, IA. It is an amazing school that provided me with a vast knowledge of modalities and ethics. I've continued my education and learning from other therapists, online and nearby classes. I have a deep thirst for knowledge so I'm always researching how to better serve my clients.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have that I haven't answered here, I'll gladly answer to the best of my ability.
